Meet Your Book Diagnostician

My name is Carma Spence, and I am the author of five books, including the #1 bestseller Home Sweet Home Page, and the award-winning and bestselling Public Speaking Super Powers. I have contributed to several international bestselling books, am an award-winning speaker, and a three-times award-winning editor. In addition, I am a Certified StoryWay Guide and am certified in Author Marketing.

I have been obsessed with all aspects of being an author since I was a toddler, continuously self-educating throughout my life with books, classes, and in-the-trenches, hands-on experience. I’ve experimented with independent and hybrid publishing, as well as been published by a boutique publisher. My first book turned a profit within six months – with no audience and very little marketing. And it still sells well to this day.

In addition, I have more than 25 years of professional experience in marketing and public relations and hold a master’s degree in public relations.

I’ve studied the success – and lack thereof – of numerous authors, which is how I developed the Authorneer’s Code Framework and Analysis. Therefore, I know a thing or two about how to lay the foundations for a successful author-entrepreneur (or as I call it, Authorneer) business.

What Is the Authorneer’s Code Deep Dive Analysis?

The Authorneer’s Code Deep Dive Analysis is a comprehensive and systematic examination of an author’s potential for success from a business perspective. It is based on the Authorneer’s Code Framework, which identifies, addresses, and builds an author-entrepreneur’s business foundation, setting the author up for long-term success.

Here are the four quadrants of the Authorneer’s Code Analysis and why each one of these is so vital for your success:

Quadrant One: Mastery Markers

In this quadrant, we look at your expertise and authority as it relates to your author-based business. This is the foundation of an author-based business. Without a bedrock of knowledge, expertise, and authority, as well as the evidence to prove it, you will find it hard to build and grow your business. These Mastery Markers take on different forms for different authors and different genres.

Quadrant Two: Geek Factor

Why does someone read Dean Koontz over Stephen King? Why read Seth Godin over Gary Vanerychuck? Each of these author pairings is writing in the same general genre, however, they have their own unique Geek Factor that sets them apart and attracts their target audience. This is critical for the success of an author. After establishing authority, the author must establish what sets them apart from similar authors. In this quadrant, we examine how well you are communicating your Geek Factor.

Quadrant Three: Asimov Quotient

All authors need an Author Platform, which is what we examine in this quadrant. We look at the overall health of your platform, including current visibility and influence, looking for gaps and areas for growth. The greater your Asimov Quotient, the more likely you will have success. And if it is not where you want it to be, this is an excellent area to work on!

Quadrant Four: Writer's Blocks

All authors experience Writer’s Block at some point in their careers. In this quadrant, we examine your current mindset and how that might affect your success. We also take a look at potential Writer’s Blocks that may be brewing so that they won’t surprise you as you progress along your Author’s Journey.

But Wait! There’s More!

Using what we learn during the diagnostic half of this two-hour session, we’ll develop a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (S.W.O.T.) Analysis of your idea and business, as well as a plan to capitalize on the plusses and avoid the minuses.

You’ll leave this session with a clear idea of where you stand and a solid plan to make the most of your current situation and resources.

This All Sounds Great But…

Is this session for aspiring or established authors? What if I've never written a book before or my business is not launched yet?

This session is best for entrepreneurs who wish to write a book and build a business around it. If you’ve never written a book before, that is perfectly fine, because you’ll come to the session with your cup empty and ready to be filled.

If you are an established author, this session will help you strengthen what you’ve already built and help you clarify your book idea so that it will better support that business.

How is this different from a standard coaching session?

For the Authorneer’s Code Analysis, I use a special diagnostic software tool that was specifically designed for this type of session. Although I may provide some coaching as we move through the diagnostic analysis, this session is more about uncovering your current strengths and identifying areas for improvement based on a framework for author success that I have developed over the 20+ years I’ve been a writer and author.

How do I know this is suitable for me?

This session is for you if:

  • You are an entrepreneur or are planning to make that leap
  • You have a book idea (no matter how vague at the moment)

This session is not for you if:

  • You have no intention of using a book to grow your business
How much is the cost?

This two-hour session is $297. I’m offering it at this low cost because I want to fine-tune and collect testimonials about this process. After I have collected a sufficient amount of testimonials, this session will be offered at a higher cost, probably $497.
